Grammar
Who and Whom in Clauses
Exercise

Mrs. Dowling

DIRECTIONS

Decide whether who or whom should be used in each clause below.

NOTES

Who is a subject pronoun and should only be used as a subject in a sentence.

Betsy is the girl who organized the gym-jam. (Who is the subject of the verb organized. Who organized the gym-jam?)

Whom is an object pronoun and should only be used as an object in a sentence.

Greg is the one whom you invited. (Whom is acting as the object of the verb invited...You invited whom?)

Hint: If there is another noun or pronoun in the sentence, you probably want to use who...like in the above sentence...you is an additional pronoun causing the whom to be the direct object.
