Asking Interview Questions
  1. Avoid questions that can be answered by "yes" or "no".
  2. Ask questions that encourage your subjects to talk.
  3. keep the interview focused.
  4. Take notes or ask permission to use a tape recorder.
  5. Thank the person for the interview.
 
Being an Active Listener
  1. Really lisaten instead of thinking "What will I ask next?"
  2. If the person makes a surprising remark, follow up on it. Be willing to leave your prepared list of questions.
  3. Watch the person's body language. Watch for a raised eyebrow, a sudden grin, a frown, a glance at the clock. What does it show about the person's feelings?
  4. Listen for good quotes and write them down, Later, have the person approve your written quotation.
