Expressing Your Opinion
  1. State your opinion clearly, but do not be a know-it-all. Use phrases such as in my opinion and I believe
  2. Give facts or opinions to support your opinion.
  3. Respect the opinions of others. When you make fun of people's opinions, you insult them and make them angry. Then they will not listen to anything you say.
  4. When you want to persuade others to agree with you, start by stating all the points on which you do agree.
Being a Critical Listener
  1. Listen for proof of the speaker's opinion. Does the speaker give facts or reasons to support it?
  2. Evaluate the speaker. Does the speaker know the facts?
  3. Try to keep an open mind if you disagree with the speaker.
