Telling a Tall Tale
- Tell a tall tale with a straight face. Resist the urge to laugh or grin as you tell it.
- Show emotion, however, if the story calls for it. Use your voice, face and body for drama.
- Speak clearly and distinctly. Having to repeat part of your tale detracts from the humor.
Being an Active Listener
- Be ready to listen. Pay close attention.
- Listen to the exaggeration. Ask yourself, "Could this really happen? Could this be true?"
- Try to enjoy the humor. Picture the exaggerated situation in your mind.
