Telling a Tall Tale
  1. Tell a tall tale with a straight face. Resist the urge to laugh or grin as you tell it.
  2. Show emotion, however, if the story calls for it. Use your voice, face and body for drama.
  3. Speak clearly and distinctly. Having to repeat part of your tale detracts from the humor.
Being an Active Listener
  1. Be ready to listen. Pay close attention.
  2. Listen to the exaggeration. Ask yourself, "Could this really happen? Could this be true?"
  3. Try to enjoy the humor. Picture the exaggerated situation in your mind.
