Linking Verbs

A linking verb shows being. A linking verb connects the subject with words in the predicate.

Using the Forms of BE
Use am/was with I I am/I was
Use is/was with she, he, it and singular nouns She is/Sally was
Use are/were with we, you, they and plural nouns They are/The ranchers were

Other linking verbs are seem, feel, taste, smell and look.
