Character Sketch Hannah Do you have that one special friend in your life that you know you will never forget? Hannah is my best friend. She is one of the most exciting people I know. She enjoys life so much. I have been through many good times and bad times with her. We have made so many memories together. It does not matter if we are happy or sad, we still stick together and stay friends. Hannah is very random. She thinks up ideas that are just so goofy you must laugh at them. One day, we were sitting in her tree house talking about what we wanted to be when we grew up. Legs dangling down, we laughed and giggled at the silly jobs we came up with. Suddenly, she said, “Wouldn’t it be so cool to be an astronaut?” Her hazel eyes sparkled as she began to sing about the life as an astronaut. It was hilarious! There she was, singing about life on the moon. I just stared at her and said, “What are you doing?” She looked back at me without even a hint of a smile, pulling back her dirty blonde hair, and said, “Singing of course!” We both burst into giggles. One of the best reasons to be around Hannah is that she is so random and humorous. Hannah is social. That is the bottom line. She will just walk up to anyone and start a conversation. In fact, that is how I met Hannah. On the first day of first grade in Mrs. Childress’ class, all the kids were buzzing with excitement. Hannah sauntered right up to me and said, “Hi my name is Hannah. Would you like to play with me at recess?” I was confused. How could she just come up to me and want to play with me? She does not even know me! But instead of speaking my mind, I said, “Sure.” Ever since, we have been together forever. We met each other because she was social. Lastly, Hannah is very optimistic. She hopes for the best in everything. One summer day, we were sitting on the swings in her backyard. That was when she broke the news. Very quietly, she said, “Amy, I may have to move to Guam in six months.” I was in shock. “Moving!” I said. “Ha, that is a good one!” “Seriously Amy,” she explained, “My Dad’s job may make us move to Guam.” This was horrible news. I worried, “What are we going to do!” “Well,” she said, “There is always instant message.” This scared me. I had never imagined life without her. Luckily, it worked out. She found out three weeks later she would not have to move after all. But during those three weeks, she was always looking on the bright side. She was always reminding me that we could still talk. I admired her for being so optimistic about it. The situation would have been much harder if she was not always looking on the bright side. Hannah is special to me because she is someone I can go to to talk about anything. Whether I am having a terrible day, or the best day of my life, she can always make me smile. Laughing, crying, no matter what it is, she has been my best friend forever. I do not know what I would do without her. All About Me Every day, I do many different activities. I figure skate for about an hour and a half every day. I practice my jump, my spins, and my footwork sequences. I also practice my novice moves in the field for my synchronized skating sessions. Synchro practices are the most fun for me because I am with most of my skating friends, and we really have a great time practicing together. Another activity I do almost every day is talk online to my friends. I absolutely love to communicate this way. On my buddy list, I have 137 screen names divided into five groups, buddies, skating buddies, family, Saunders Spartans, and teachers. I like to use this way to communicate because it is fast, easy, and fun to do. One of the most social activities I do three or four days a week is play soccer. I usually play around ninety minutes a day. My coach, Mr. Bowen, has been my coach for two years (four seasons). I play center forward and sweeper. When the regular season is over, I usually play in the All-Star tournament, which I really have a good time playing in. Along with all of these things, I have to find time to practice piano for about twenty minutes a night. I have been playing for about a year now and I enjoy it immensely. I am usually very busy every day. In my life, I have had high and low points, although more high than low. A high point was when I was nine years old, I landed my first axel in skating. It felt so easy. It was like I was flying and couldn’t come down. I just took off, and it magically happened. Now, I am working on my double axel, which is twice as hard. To land it cleanly, I have to rotate two and a half times in the air. Another high point was when I met one of my best friends. I walked into school on the first day of first grade, and sat down. A girl walked up to me and said, “At recess, do you wanna play with me?” Ever since, we have been best friends forever. Meeting her has changed me in a positive way. A low point in my life was over the summer when I twisted my ankle. I was skating, and I went to do a jump, and my ankle went the opposite way of my body. In result, I couldn’t put any weight on it and was on crutches for five days. Those were the most boring days of my entire life. I wasn’t allowed to do anything. Twisting my ankle is the worst thing that has happened to my body. Another low point was at the South Atlantic Regional competition in Laurel, Maryland. I skated onto my warm-up and preformed my jumps and spins perfectly. When I went out to perform my program to music, I fell apart. Every jump I tried I fell. It was as if I was moving in slow motion. I felt as if I would never be able to compete again. This was definitely a low point in my life. I prefer remembering the high points in life rather than the low ones. My goal for this year is to continue the streak I have developed over the years. I have gotten all “A’s” since the third grade. I have a feeling that this year will be more difficult than any other year. A dream I have is to become a sixth grade teacher. Since I was in kindergarten, I have wanted to be a teacher of some kind. The profession has always interested me. I have always wanted to write information down on the board and call on people. This is a dream I have had for a long time. A dream that has inspired me in the past two years is to be a figure skating choreographer. My mom is a coach, and I love to help make-up programs. I love to take pieces of music and figure out what would fit where. These are my dreams and my goals. ![]() Page 1: Fall Page 2: Winter Page 3: Research Paper Page 4: Spring Page 5: End-Of-Year Reflections | |
