Character Sketch My Dad Who is the most special person in your life? Why are they so special to you? Is that person hard-working? Does he or she give you advice? The person that is so special to me has done very self-reliant tasks in his life. He has accomplished very important tasks and taught me to be myself no matter what. My dad is often at times not home, but that is only because he is the only one in the family who has a job, so he makes the time count when he is home. He is a very hard-working man, his friends would say. The truth was, he did work hard. Those dark, brown eyes always came home tired, and that black hair everywhere on his head. My dad comes home late and leaves early. He manages to put that smile on his face. He only has Sundays off, and he still is not home all day. He works at American Airlines, and since 9/11 his pay has gone down. He also started to own a number of vending machines at the airport. He now owns more then twenty machines. Most days, he will come home really late. I often do not get to see him for more then two hours. Some nights, while I sleep, a roar awakes me. It is my father’s truck, I have remembered the sound. As he pulls away, the headlights shine into my room, I quietly whisper, “Bye, Dad.” My dad is very creative. One day, I came back from school and went into my house. I walked around a little then realized no one was home. I suddenly hear knocking at the door downstairs, I walked towards the door, but saw no one there. I crept out the door, but saw wood everywhere. There was my father working on a room under the deck. Day after day, when work was over, my dad would work on that room. I thought he was very creative when I saw he was adding a room. I went outside and said, “Dad that is really amazing, that you are making a room.” Nothing came out of his mouth, finally he asked me get the drill, and after that, I knew it was the end of that conversation. My dad is a very silent man, but he is very intelligent. That man with few words and self-reliance, always told me, “If you want to get somewhere, you can not let anyone hold you back because you never know what can be accomplished.” I always love hearing him say that, and the short story that goes with it. When my father was only seventeen, he was off on his, own after both parents had passed away. He did love his stepparents, but he promised to send them over after everything was settled. The main reason he wanted to come over to the U.S was because Laos is and was communist. He got over well and dandy, but then it was time to settle down. He got his first job as a dishwasher, then earned enough money to buy an apartment. After that, he made a few friends, and pulled some strings to go work at American Airlines. Once he was there, he made friends in no time. They really admired his determination to get here, and the sacrifices he gave. After he got his car and earned money, his stepparents came over. Then everything was settled with them, and this life of his has been going good ever since. My dad is so special to me because he is always working hard. He is a great influence in my life that does everything he can for his family and himself. He does a million of different jobs to help out no matter what. My dad has always been the main influence in my life to put everything I got into everything I do. When it comes down to it, Air Phanthanousy is a very special person in my life for what he has done and what he will do later. All About Me I do some of the same activities everyday. I love soccer and play it everyday to get better. I love animals, and I have one dog, I play with her everyday. Track helps me with soccer, and I go to track practice or run everyday. The computer helps me with many different activities, so everyday I go on it to help me get information. I also go on to talk to my friends and check my mail. Everybody has low points and high points. Low points aren’t really fun, but everyone has them. One low point I’ve had was being separated from a bunch of my friends in seventh grade. For me, that is bad because my friends are what help me get through tough times at school. Leaving elementary school was hard for me because I knew all the teachers and students. I was so used to everything, and I didn’t want to move on. Everyone has high points, some more then others, but everyone has them. My high points are really important to me. It had been my first soccer All-Star tournament, and we won first. I made the travel team and for my first travel tournament, we won first, and it wasn’t just exciting, it was really fun. Dreams are good to have so one has something to live up to. I want to play soccer for UVA. I might not, but it’s good to have something to set my mind on and reach for it. I want to be an architect when I grow up and just maybe it might happen. Goals can be set every year, all the time, any day. This year my goals are to get straight “A’s” and make some new friends. ![]() Page 1: Fall Page 2: Winter Page 3: Research Paper Page 4: Spring Page 5: End-Of-Year Reflections | |
