All About Me

I have many hobbies and interests that I do almost every day. Of course, like most kids, I watch T.V. and go on the computer. I really enjoy watching reality shows on T.V. Everyday during the summer and part of fall, I go to Montclair Country Club and swim on their swim team. I really like doing relays at the swim meets. Last, I enjoy playing with my dog and my sister, Samantha. My dog, Katie, is a brown Brittany Spaniel and is one year old. Samantha is almost eleven years old and is in the fifth grade. As you can see, the activities I do everyday are interesting and fun.

All the high points and low points in my life are unique. My first high point is that I get good grades. It is very rewarding to do well in school. Competitive swimming is another high point in my life. It is so much fun to race at the meets. One of the best high points in my life was when I got contact lenses. However, I also have low points in my life. First, when I was in the second grade, I tried to climb a tree and I broke my arm. Second, my two best friends moved. But the worst low point in my life was when my Black Lab, named Mattie, died. But overall, I have more high points than low points in my life.

My goals and dreams are very special to me. For this year, I hope to make straight “A’s” in school. That would be very wonderful to me. All of my other dreams are for when I am older. For instance, I hope to go to college at Auburn University. Both of my parents went there. In fact, that is where they met! After college, there are two jobs I might want to have. First, I would like to work as a marine biologist for Sea World. Alternatively, I would like to be a journalist for the New York Times. None of my goals or dreams are far-fetched. I hope they will come true.

My Mom

Have you ever had a feeling that made your mom seem like a sister? My mom is like a grown-up who is a child at heart. I can tell her anything without feeling upset, nervous, or uncomfortable about it. In fact, after confiding in my mom, all the pain in any terrible situation goes away. My mom is like a magician, mystically putting smiles on everyone’s face.

Like most mothers, my mom loves to bake. And when she bakes, she can be very creative and artistic about it. When I was turning eleven, I couldn’t decide what I wanted on my birthday cake. Finally, when it was the day before my birthday, and I still couldn’t think of a design, my mom laughed, with her chin-length auburn hair flying, and said, “I’ll surprise you with a special design!” When I got home from school, I saw what, in my opinion, was the most beautiful cake ever. My mom made one rectangle cake, cut it in half, and shaped the two pieces to each look like ones. Then, in icing letters, she wrote eleven all over the two cakes. I hope that I inherited my mother’s creative gene.

My mom is very dependable. During Christmas, for example, we can depend on her to remind us to buy presents, make Christmas cards, and get out the decorations. Whenever we’re done decorating the Christmas tree, we turn off the overhead light, and watch the red, green, blue, and yellow lights flash on the tree. Then, my mom tells us about the tree skirt around the tree while her misty blue eyes reflect the lights. “Your dad and I made this tree skirt,” she explained, “with latch and hook.” We still cherish this tree skirt.

“Hey kids, let’s go shopping!” When my mom says that, to my brother and sister, that means, “Run!” In reality, my mom makes shopping enjoyable. Whenever we shop, my mom is very polite. If she bumps into someone at the mall, even if it is the other shopper’s fault, her fair skin will turn pink, and she will immediately apologize. Even though I try, I don’t think I’ll ever be as polite as my mom.

My mom is very special to me for an obvious reason. She is a major role model in my life. No matter how much chaos there is in any situation, my mom can stay calm and take care of it in a very rational way. She keeps a cool head to the very end. I love her very much.
