Patrick Cobb 11-5-04 Character sketch R #3 Character Sketch My Grandpa Do you ever wonder if you have met a good-hearted person? When I see my grandpa on the outside, he is an old man with white hair. However, when I talk to him I can see him, on the inside he is jolly, kind, and I guess I can say he is pure-hearted. He is a proud person who loves his gentle farm. I have never known him to do wrong. The lessons I learned from him I will take through life. My grandpa is a very strong person. He has fought cancer. He does not like to talk about it to my brother, sister, and me. I can tell he cannot walk that far for a long period. I know he goes through pain with his surgeries. After ever surgery he calls my house and says it is successful. When I ask him he says, he is fine, with a smile. He has a look about him that reassures me that he will be all right. Even though he is a short, robust, white haired man, he is full of toughness. It is important that I spend time with him because he will not be around forever. For now though, I can just hope his cancer stays away. My grandpa is the most generous person I know. One day, in my grandpa's dining room a special thing happened. This thing was very generous. My grandpa handed my brother, sister, and I each an envelope. Inside I found one hundred dollars. He then told us in that sunny room, in his heavy German accent, ''I made some extra money when the loggers cut down some of the acres of the forest.'' We were very happy. We thanked him with a smile on our faces, and on his warm smiling face he replied, ''You're welcome. '' One thing I can say about my grandpa is that he is very funny. He can put a smile on anyone's face. One time he told me a story about when he was a child that was not the smartist thing on his part. He said that one day he and his cousin were watching their uncle who was beheading a chicken for dinner. After their uncle left, they took some chickens to the woods and found a stump. They placed the chicken down and then swung a stick, which resulted in its death. They did not realize that the chicken was dead, because they had only hit the chicken with a stick. Then they killed another accidentally as they were trying to imitate their uncle. Their uncle found out, and I think he paddled them. This may not be funny in words but the way he said it, it was funny. I think a good moral would be to think before you act. My grandpa is so special to me because he is nice and always does the right thing. Through all the stories that I know about him, he is a good person and should be a role model for everyone. When I grow up I wish I could be half the person he is. I know he will be there when I need him. That is why he is very special to me.Patrick Cobb 9/23/04 p7 All About Me School’s over and I get home. I get ready to run the days I don’t have soccer practice. I run two and a half miles to the country club and back. I start out by getting ready to run by taking a drink of water, I put on my running clothes, and then I tie my running shoes then I take off running from my mailbox to the country club and back. Another thing I love to do is play soccer. To get ready I have to do is fill up my water bottle, put on my shin guards, get my socks on, and finally get my cleats on. Then I get in my car, drive to the soccer field and do drills and scrimmages. Everybody has high points and low points in their lives. One high point in my life was when I got second place at a race in Brentsville. The race was fun and the trail led me through a cornfield. Another high point was going to middle school. I liked going to middle school because it gave me more independence. A low point was when summer break ended. I miss summer break because now that school started, I can’t go swimming at the lake. Another low point was when my dog died, I miss her so much because I love her. I have many dreams and goals when I grow up. I plan on getting rich at my future job. When I grow up I want to be a brain surgeon. Maybe while being a brain surgeon I could make a discovery to help all mankind. I plan on being famous so maybe I could be a movie star. It doesn’t matter what I am when I grow up because right now I just want to graduate. ![]() Page 1: Fall Page 2: Winter Page 3: Research Paper Page 4: Spring Page 5: End-Of-Year Reflections | |
