Fantasy Room

Envision a room where you can go, and all the uncertainties of the day just seem to fade away. This captures all this. The lofty ceiling is covered with a motif of a spangled night sky. Each wall has its own personality. The walls are each arranged with pieces of tile, and glass the color of jade. The floor is comparable to the walls. I want to tell you of a room so grand there probably never was one like it.

This wall is unswervingly to the left of the glass screened, olive shaded door. This wall is completely covered with a mahogany wood mantelpiece that blends with the aged literature, poems, art, and fantasy books that rest upon it. I have collected these over the years. There is an interval in these shelves were I have placed an elaborate painting of "Titania and her beloved friend Bottom" by James Christianson. This canvas is used to cover a space in the wall were I keep my most cherished possessions. This is my judgment wall where I can council myself and learn.

The second wall is right transversely from the crystal glass paned door that shimmers in the light. This light comes from two large seated windows on the wall I just explained. Also, on this wall is fresco of the ocean. It is embellished with a CD playing sounds of the ocean and of calling seagulls singing from two large speakers in the ceiling above. Though this wall is tranquil, it is also were I work. My computer is positioned on an abstract desk, along with a printer, color scanner, and a desk lamp. This is the wall that I also do my meditating. I really do adore this wall.

I've unwaveringly decided to combine the third and fourth wall since one of them is absurdly monotonous. The third wall is covered with one vast bay window that overlooks a cliff leading down to a half-moon bay below. That's really all that's on that wall. The other wall is much more interesting. This wall is parallel to the door with the aged olive colored wood framed door. On this wall is a broad bookshelf that is about three feet tall. It is full of stuff from the ocean that I love to collect. Also on this wall is a day bed that leans up against the shelves. This is a comfortable wall where I can enjoy a peaceful day.

There is only a little in the middle of my fantasy room. In the far right corner is an iron spiral staircase that leads right to a balcony where my bed and double door closet reside. By the door that leads into my room is a large throw rug. This is where my Great Dane Taylor sleeps and takes guard. Though this part of my room is not much, its cleanliness is my pride and joy.

From wall to wall, this room is inspiring. It is really immense and spacious. This room is filled with memories and possessions that I would not trade the world for. The subtle grandness of this room is balanced by is humble homemade warmth. Is this not a grand old room?

All About Me

By Julia Phipps

Getting closer to my friends and family is my goal this year. My belief is that friends and family are most important in getting good grades by encouragement. By getting closer to friends and family, possibly it could help me on the way to get to my dreams of becoming a doctor, a writer, a dancer, or a marine biologist. These dreams are dreams that might not only help me in the future, but may be the dreams of others. I really want to become a doctor to help those less able than myself. Throughout my life, there are many high and many low points of time. A lot of my high points are the times when I was closest to my family. A couple of those times were when my younger brothers were born. The lower points of my life happened when I started middle school. These were the times when I was late for homework or for assignments, probably because of stress. Many things I do, I do every day. I like to dance a lot. It is one of my hobbies, I do it every day. I also really like art. I do that every day too. A lot of the time I just relax though. Of course, I end every day with a good book.

Character Sketch

No matter how hard you resist Josh could make you laugh even if you've had a rotten day. He could ruin your cloths, toys, or reputation but could still make you smile. One day when he was younger, Joshua had just thrown an enormous tantrum and was just starting to calm down by watching his favorite show when my older brother David took the remote and changing the channel to his boring history stuff. Joshua was not too happy. He started screaming and yelling his baby words so loud that you could have heard him down the street. His face grew so red that you could not help but laugh out loud. Even though He didn't try to make David and me laugh, we enjoyed it anyway.

It is really amazing how the words of a toddler can brighten your day. I was in my bedroom reading after a really bad day at school, when Joshua climbed on my loft bed and started pointing to the star prints on my wall and naming them with the manes of people that he knew. He does this every night when he refuses to go to sleep. He stopped and looked at me with one of those baby faces, he rarely does this because he's a "Big Boy" But he looked so cute there with his gray green eyes and mousy blond hair. You could really say this looked like a Kodak moment. Josh pointed to a cute little star on the wall then touched my nose," Julia," he said," you're a star." I almost cried. He was so small and didn't really know what love meant but I still knew that he meant it. I repeated those words to him through teary eyes. He just scrunched up his face and argued, loudly," No, Julia you're a star."
