Fall

Maddie Hines Oct. 1, 2003 P/2

When I look back on my life I remember lots of people. However there is one person that stands out like a beacon in the darkness, my grandmother Vadna. Vadna has many interesting characteristics. I was about three when I was at this very boring restaurant. I saw Vadna's old wrinkly hand. I started to mold the wrinkle into different shapes. She has orangish, red, wild hair. The tasty aroma of her kicthen could knock a man off his feet. Vadna said "This will make a good boy throw rocks at his grandfather." Vadna never believed in cussing. Vadna was visiting my family and me in Alabama. My brother, Vadna and I were staying up late that night. It was about the middle of the night and then the Cuckoo clock went off. The, Vadna leaned in as if some one was watching us and said" We're going to choke that darn (only not darn) bird tomorrow." I believe Vadna was difficult to please. She was about six and it was Christmas. She wanted a doll with Crayola color red hair. When Christmas finely came she got a doll but not the one she wanted. The doll had orange hair but not red hair. After Christmas she cut the dolls hair and named it Bob.

I choose Vadna because she gave me an insight into life. She has made things possible that I didn't think were possible. Most of all she lets me be me. When I think about her it makes me sad that I know the whole world will not get to know her like her friends and family do.
