My Dream Room

Would it not be so much fun to design a room how ever you want it? Would you not love to have a room filled with your favorite things in the exact order you want them in? Well, That is exactly what I did. I designed my dream library. It is all floor to ceiling big bookshelves. It is huge and rectangular so I can fill it all the space with my books.

When you walk in the library and you turn left, there is a table. On the table is a huge book with all the titles and authors of all the books in my library. The wall to the left when you walk in is a huge bookshelf. All the bookshelves are built into the wall. This particular wall is all books on world history. In the corner are a wine colored easy chair and an iron lamp.

Going clockwise in the room is another built-in bookshelf ceiling high. Only in the middle of the wall is a glass case filled with all of my favorite books and series. Within the case are the Redwall Series, the old Nancy Drew Files, the Series of Unfortunate Events and last but not least is my favorite book the Bible. Since the case is farther in the wall than the bookshelves, on the left and right of the case are pictures of the authors who wrote my favorite books. This case is locked with a gold key, which is kept on the top of the fireplace. To the left of the case are of my books on grammar. To the right of the case are all my books on foreign language.

The next wall going clock-wise is divided in half, as well. However, in the middle is a huge stone fireplace. To the left of the fireplace are all the fire tools. To the left of that is my family tree wall. This wall has pictures of my mother’s relatives. To the right of the fireplace are extra logs. Next to that are pictures of my father’s relatives. These pictures are to remind me of how important each of my family members are to me and how they affected my life. Above the fireplace is a mantle with big candles on the left and right side and the two gold keys, to the glass cases, in the middle.

The next wall going clock-wise are books about plants and animals. In the middle of the wall is a glass case with some of my favorite things inside. It possesses a binkey, my blanket, leafs from my favorite plants, signatures, rocks, my autobiography, and much more. This wall really describes me. The books are on my favorite topic, nature. In addition, all of my favorite things are in a glass case. The key to this case is above the mantle piece. Just as the case before it is also farther into the wall than the bookshelves. There is wall space with pictures of Cleo, my cat and me. In the far right corner, is a wine leather chair with a brass lamp.

To the right of the door, is a bookshelf filled with encyclopedias, atlases, and maps. The maps are from all different time periods and are from all around the world. Copies of old documents can be found on the bottom shelf. The table next to the wall has a portrait of my family. Inside the drawer in the table are copies of birth certificates.

When you walk straight into this room, the first thing you see is a brown bear skinned rug. To the left of the door, are three vertical bookshelves that are nonfiction. The bookshelves are labeled Math, Science, and U.S. History/ Government. In front of that is a long horizontal bookshelf that is divided in half religions and Christianity and Bibles. In front of that is a minuscule coffee bar for late nights and early mornings. To the left of the door are three vertical bookshelves all fiction. In front of that is a horizontal bookshelf that is all children books. In front of the children books is a pond with live plants, fish and a waterfall. By the pond is a lounge chair. When you walk in the room, go past the bearskin rug is one long sofa facing the fireplace. On each side (left and right) are two round tables. Each table with two-cup holders, a box of tissues and a tiny brass lamp. In front of the sofa, facing each other are to love chairs. The fireplace facing the sofa and the two love chairs facing each other forms a rectangle. In the middle of the rectangle is a tiny glass coffee table with a big candle and pouprri in the middle.

If only I could have this room, it would be so awesome. I absolutely love reading any kinds of books. Not only is this room filled with things I love, but it is also comfortable, warm and has a coffee bar. I would spend my entire day in this room having fun. It is very peaceful. Reading my favorite books and listening to the pond relaxing in a lounge chair and enjoying life. Now that is what I would call life.

Papa

I found out in an early age the more time you spend with someone, the more you grow to love them. I used to spend so much time with my grandfather. As a matter of a fact I used to live with my grandparents. I will never forget all the special memories we shared over the years. He is a tall guy with gray hair. We both have the same shade of blue eyes. He likes to have some time by himself. He loves to share his opinion and is not afraid to. We have some similarities and some differences. I still have a good time with him.

Papa has such an imagination for telling stories. Ever since my sisters and I have been little girls, my grandfather has told a story we have loved to listen to “The Dirty Rat.” Every time before he will tell the story, we have to give him a kiss. The kiss is a way for us to pay him for telling the story. The story is about a rat with big, gnarly, yellow teeth and blood shot eyes. He sometimes comes out of the basement into our room and is crawling on my bed. When Papa suddenly feels that something is not just. He gets up out of his bed and grabs his gun. He’s afraid of a disaster, so he runs a little faster. At the same time the rat is crawling up to my neck ready to bite when bamb. Papa shoots the rat. As Papa is telling the story, he is pretending to be the rat, and we are pretending to be asleep in our beds. It is hilarious. I love Papa’s stories.

My grandfather is such the chef. You can ask him to cook anything and it is the best thing you will have ever tasted. Even if he messes up the recipe, it is still delicious and he won’t give up, he will just try harder next time. Papa will play with the recipe till it is perfect, just the way he likes it. I can remember one time when we were making oatmeal-raisin cookies. They might not have been the best batch of cookies in the world, but we had a lot of fun making them. While making the cookies we sang the cookie opera. Now I willlllll add the flourrrrrr... and crack the egggggg..... Yum, Yum, Yummmmmm..... and so on. My grandpa loved having fun with his grandkids. He is always there to play around with.

My grandfather means so much to me. Over the years, we have had so much fun spending time with each other. Whether it was cooking, talking, or just laughing together. He is a good example for everyone. I have learned to love him over the years. I will always cherish the times we have spent and will spend together in my heart.
